We Believe

  • God is creator and sustainer of the universe.
  • The Bible, the infallible Word of God, is the truth.
  • All mankind is in need of salvation.
  • Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation.
  • The Holy Spirit brings sinners to Christ.
  • Our children belong to God.
  • The Holy Spirit empowers us to live a spirit-filled life.
  • God requires parents to teach their children to serve Him in all areas.

We believe in God's Big Story of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. Because we believe the Lord is Lord of all life, we also believe obedience to Him involves us in a thorough investigation of the world. Students and teachers should seek to integrate their faith in all areas of learning and life. Students at ACS will be given the opportunities to grow in their knowledge and understanding of God and live out the calling to aid in restoring the world to how God intended it to be.

Faith Statement

Scripture

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, authoritative, inerrant Word of God and our only guide for faith and living. (II Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:89, II Peter 1:20-21)

The Triune God

We believe in one God who exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three are uncreated, coeternal, and coequal in power, glory, and honor. The Triune God is infinite, almighty, completely wise, just and good, and worthy of our worship and praise! (Matthew 28:19, I Timothy 1:17, Romans 1:20, Psalm 145:3)

Creation

We believe that God created the universe and is sovereign over His creation. All things are created by and governed by God and exist for His glory. God providentially cares for His world and will one day renew it completely. God’s people are called to care for His world. (Genesis 1-2, Psalm 24, Matthew 6:25-34, Revelation 21-22)

Humanity

We believe that all people are created in the image of God. All human life is precious in God’s sight and every individual must be treated with dignity and respect. (Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-16, Proverbs 30:8-9, Galatians 3:26-29)

Sin

We believe that everyone is born with a sinful nature, separated from God and in need of salvation. Adam and Eve rebelled against God, bringing misery and death into this world and alienation from God. Because of the Fall, we are spiritually dead until God makes us alive in Christ. (Genesis 3, Romans 5:12-21, Ephesians 2:1-5)

Jesus

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. Jesus is fully man and fully God through whom all things were made. Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, taught about God’s kingdom, performed miracles, forgave sins, suffered, was crucified, died, was bodily raised to life on Easter morning, and ascended to Heaven where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father and reigns forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. (John 1:1-2, 14, 3:16; Luke 1:34-35, Romans 3:23-26, Hebrews 4:14-15, I Timothy 6:15)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone. It is by grace we are saved through faith. Jesus willingly died on the cross of Calvary to make full payment and atonement for the sins of God’s people so that when they repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ they will be saved! They are justified fully by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:1-10, Romans 3:22-26, John 10:11-15, Acts 16:29-31, Romans 5:9)

The Holy Spirit

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, the Helper and Comforter, who came with power at Pentecost. We believe in His daily guidance and the leading of His people into truth through the Word of God. We believe that He convicts people of sin, leads God’s people to repentance, and dwells within them with His presence, empowering believers to live godly lives. (John 3:5-8, 4:24, 14:16-17, 16:13-14; Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 2:6-16, 6:19-20, 12:13; Ephesians 4:30-32, 5:18)

The Church

We believe that the Church is the people gathered by God from all nations into one new and distinct community of faith. The Church is the People of God, the Bride of Christ, and the Body of Christ. This Church is spread and dispersed throughout the entire world, though still joined and united in heart, will and truth, in one and the same Spirit, by the power of faith in Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:9-12; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 5:25-27; Rev. 7:9)

Spiritual Gifting

We believe that the Lord has gifted all his people to serve him in different ways. All members of the Body of Christ have an important role to play in God’s kingdom, and must be equipped, empowered, and encouraged to use those gifts in service to God and His kingdom, (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; 1 Peter 2:9-10, Romans 12:3-8)

Responding in Gratitude

We believe that God’s saving grace fills us with joy and hope and leads us into a life of gratitude for what God has done for us. It is a joy to sing God’s praises, honor Him with acts of service and compassion, and point our neighbors towards Jesus Christ, the reason for our hope. (Psalm 100, Luke 17:11-19, Romans 12:1-2, Matthew 5:14-16)

Final Judgment & Eternity

We believe that Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead. All people will appear before Him to be judged for their thoughts, words, and deeds. Those who are guilty and reject Christ Jesus as LORD will be condemned and separated from God for all eternity. Those who have been redeemed by the saving work of Jesus Christ will be welcomed into glory and live with God forever in the new heavens and new earth. (Acts 1:11, John 3:17-18, Hebrews 9:27-28, Matthew 25:31-46, II Thessalonians 1:6-10)

To understand the Reformed Worldview, we look at the Three Forms of Unity:
