Milk: $0.50
Fruit/Veggies: $0.80
Meat/Meat Alternative: $1.00
Grain: $0.80
Slushie: $0.90

Choice 1

  • Each child is offered milk, fruit, veggies, grains, and meat/meat alternatives.
  • Your child does not have to take everything, but to count for the meal price, they must take at least 3 of the choices offered with one of them being a fruit or veggie.
  • If your child does not meet those requirements, they will be charged the A La Cart prices.
  • Conversely, if your child takes more than what is offered, A La Cart prices will be charged for the extra items.
  • In the emal line, signs are placed, indicating the max. allowed. If students take more than the max., they'll be charged A La Cart prices.

Example 1
A child takes mini pancakes, hash brown, and milk. This constitutes a standard meal (grain, veggie, and milk), which will be charged the standard meal price.

Example 2
A child takes hot dog on bun and milk. Since there is no fruit/veggie, it isn't considered a meal. They'll be charged A La Cart prices.

Example 3
A child takes a slice of pizza, fruit, green beans, and 2 milks. Since only one milk is included in the meal, they'll be charged a standard meal price, plus A La Cart for the extra milk.

Choice 2
This bag is already assembled and will be charged the standard meal price, whether they can choose to take milk or not.

Each student has 2 choices for lunch daily. Choice 1 is hot; Choice 2 is a grab-and-go bag.

As part of each morning's routine, your child’s teacher takes down hot lunch orders, giving students their choice of Choice 1 or 2.

If your child is going to be late that day and would like to order hot lunch, please contact their teacher and let them know which lunch choice they would like.

Free and Reduced lunches are available to qualified families. To apply, please visit the Meal Magic website, where you can create an account or sign in as a guest. For a paper application, please email Rebecca Bruggink. All applications are confidential.

Note: All are encouraged to apply! ACS can qualify for extra grants and lower pricing, based on the number of students who qualify for free/reduced lunches.

If your child is enrolled as a full-time student, he/she has a hot lunch account, by default. If your child is a part-time student and/or you would like an account, please connect with Rebecca Bruggink to get the proper account set up.

Each student receives their own account — there are no shared family accounts available. Individual meal cards are issued to all students with meal accounts. The card acts as your student's hot lunch debit card. Teachers use their best discretion regarding how to keep these cards safe. Each child receives one free replacement for a lost, damaged, or stolen card. Additional replacements cost $5.

There are two ways to add money to your child’s account:

  1. Add funds to each student's account through your Meal Magic Portal.
  2. Send cash or check to Allendale Christian School, making checks payable to Allendale Christian School.
If sending in cash and/or checks, please include a deposit slip to assure proper credit to your child’s account, and please clarify under which student's account the funds belong.

A nominal fee may apply for deposits made into the account. A $10 fee will be assessed for all NSF and invalid bank account numbers.

Note: If your child(ren) attended ACS or JCS last year, your child(ren)’s IDs are the same. If your child(ren) are new to ACS or JCS, a student hot lunch ID will be sent home with your child the first week of school.

The hot lunch program is peanut and nut free.

For additional food allergies or other dietary requirements (i.e. celiac disease, diabetes, etc.), please connect with Rebecca Bruggink. Rebecca will work with you to find hot lunch menu items that are suitable to your child's needs.

If ACS is closed, the menu that was supposed to be served on the snow day will be moved to the next school day.

Example: if school is cancelled on Tuesday due to weather, Tuesday’s menu will be served on Wednesday. Wednesday's menu will be cancelled. The only exception is if school is cancelled on a Friday. The menu will continue as normal on Monday.

Hot lunch volunteers help keep expenses and prices down to a minimum. Duties range from food prep, serving, and cleaning up during the lunch period.

Each month, we email a link to choose your day and time to help with hot lunch. Please consider helping!

Due to the health code, hot lunch volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
