I grew up in Hudsonville with my dad, mom, and two sisters. I attended Hudsonville Christian Schools and Unity Christian High School where I graduated in 2008. When home, I attend Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church in Hudsonville where I enjoy participating on the praise team when possible. I also attend Centerpoint Church in Kalamazoo, MI and am a vocalist on praise team and play flute in the orchestra. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, ukulele, and antique shopping with my mom, grandma, and sisters. I am excited to be back in the community where I grew up and be a part of Christian education again.
After high school, I attended Calvin College and graduated in 2012 with my bachelor of music education degree with an emphasis in instrumental music. While at Calvin, I played flute in the band and orchestra. After graduation, I accepted a job teaching elementary music at Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools near Kalamazoo, MI and taught there for 6 years. During my time at Galesburg-Augusta, I was also an active part of the marching band staff and positive behavior team. I recently went back to school at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL to get my master’s degree in music education with a focus on elementary music and graduated in July 2017.
I strongly believe in the importance of Christian education as it partners with families to provide students with the foundation of a Christian worldview during a formative time in their lives. My love and passion for music is deeply connected to my faith since God asks us to praise Him with our voices, our bodies, and instruments. I want to help all my students to discover and develop the gifts God has given them.
