My deep hope is for my students to learn to identify themes of conflict in their lives and learning and will strive for resolution in their relationships.
After studying Business at Davenport University for two years, I transferred to Calvin College in 2014 to study English and Secondary Education. I completed my student teaching at Calvin Christian Middle and High School and graduated from Calvin College in December of 2017 with my secondary teacher’s certification in English and a minor in Business. After graduating, I taught high school English and Psychology as a long-term substitute teacher at East Grand Rapids High School. Last year, I began my teaching career at Allendale Christian, and I am so excited to see what God has in store for my classroom this year and the years to come. In addition to teaching, I also serve as the head coach of the Track and Field team and a rhythmically-inclined member of the worship team.
I grew up in Grand Rapids with my parents and three siblings. I attended Grand Rapids Christian Schools, where I developed a love for reading, writing, music, education, and discipleship. Before teaching, I worked for six summers at SpringHill Camps in several roles, from counselor to site coordinator. My experiences with SpringHill were life-altering; through camp, I found my calling for education, grew as a man of God and servant leader, and made life-long relationships that I’ll always cherish. I have attended Crossroads Bible Church in Grand Rapids for several years. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, writing and recording music, visiting Grand Rapids’ many coffee shops, and spending time with my one-year-old nephew.
