Personal Biography

I am very excited and eager to begin my teaching career at Allendale Christian School.  I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and attended Grand Rapids Christian Schools, where I developed a love for reading, writing, education, and discipleship and learned to intentionally walk with Christ, trust in His plan for His children, and strive to further His Kingdom in all I do.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, writing music, poetry, and prose, visiting Grand Rapids’ many coffee shops, spending time with family and friends, and playing with my two dogs, Rosie and Finn.

Professional Biography

After studying Business at Davenport University for two years, I transferred to Calvin College in 2014 to study English and Secondary Education.  I served as a student teacher at Grandville Calvin Christian Middle and High School in the Spring of 2017.  I graduated from Calvin College in December of 2017 with my secondary teacher’s certification in English and a minor in Business.  After graduating, I served for a short time as a substitute teacher before working as a long-term substitute teacher at East Grand Rapids High School.  I am so glad that this journey and God’s plan has brought me to Allendale Christian.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every student deserves an engaging, meaningful, and safe learning experience, where they can learn to ask important questions and engage in dialogue about their selves, their world, and their faith.  It is my hope and desire that each student can understand and see, through their education and relationships, that they are uniquely loved by God and that they feel equipped to be active and engaging citizens of their communities and the Kingdom of God.
