The Mission of Allendale Christian School is to equip students academically, spiritually, and socially to gratefully serve God in all aspects of life.  A big piece of this preparation is to partner with parents and churches to help students grow in their faith so that they have a deeper understanding of their relationship with God. There are many ways that students are introduced to God’s word and many opportunities to grow in faith and to express faith. Below will provide an example of ways that ACS is intentional about faith nurture.

TEACHING FOR TRANSFORMATION (TfT): This Biblical Worldview program provides the framework for all that we do at ACS. Each teacher has a deep hope for their students, a class storyline that is a part of God's Big Story, and creates authentic experiences to get students outside the walls of the classroom and in to situations where they meet the real needs in the community. Please follow the Teaching for Transformation link to learn more!

FAITH STATEMENTS: One way that we focus on faith nurture is through faith statements, which are grade appropriate expressions of our faith growth while at ACS. Below is a framework for faith statements for each grade level:

  • Kindergarten:  Picture of a Bible Story
  • 1st Grade:  Why I love God
  • 2nd Grade:  What do I believe?
  • 3rd Grade:  What I learned about God in the third grade. – What was learned, a related Bible story, relation to a personal experience.
  • 4th Grade:  Prayer to God (ACTS) – What does He do for you?
  • 5th Grade:  What does it mean to be (or show that we are) a Christian? -Home, School, and World
  • 6th Grade:  Personal Testimony – Verse and songs with meaning in your life, – When I have felt close to God
  • 7th Grade:  My Faith Walk (life experiences)
  • 8th Grade:  Spiritual Growth (looking forward or faith walk)

"The value of ACS can never be put into $$. The value is when you see the lives of kids developing to look more like Christ. From the top down, Christ is modeled and glorified in every way. I can't express what being part of the ACS community means to me. Also, through things like RightNow Media (provided for free by ACS), ACS shows that helping grow families closer to Christ doesn't end when the final bell rings for the day. Instead, ACS looks to pour into families in every facet of life as we look to be like Christ in all things."   - ACS Parent

BIBLE CLASSES: ACS uses the Christian Schools International curriculum, Walking With God and His People. The goal of this curriculum is to equip students with the knowledge they need to understand and believe God’s word, and to reflect that relationship and faith by living lives of gratitude and obedience.

ALL SUBJECTS: All classes at ACS are Christ-centered. It is so important that our students know, hear, and learn that God is in and through all subjects. We will teach the standards that will be expected of each student that are provided by the State of Michigan. As a Christ-centered school, we will focus on the wonder and magnificence of our God through subjects like Science, Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts.

BIBLE MEMORY: In all grades at ACS, students will memorize scripture. Holding the word of God in our hearts and minds is an important part of faith nurture. God’s infallible word is so important to know and learn, and ACS students will take time to reflect on and learn many passages each year.

CHAPEL: Communal worship and learning is an important part of faith nurture. The first Friday of every month will include a full-school chapel to start the day. The focus of this chapel is the monthly theme for the school, which ties to the annual school theme. The elementary and middle school will also participate in smaller chapels that are age-appropriate and involve worship time and lessons from a Biblical perspective.

DAILY DEVOTIONS: Each day the classes will be involved in devotions that may be tied to the Bible Curriculum, the monthly theme, current events, or issues that may come up in a class. This is an important time for each grade to meditate on the word of God and God’s plan for our lives. The middle school students also participate in student-led, mixed-grade Bible studies at least two times per month.

SERVICE PROJECTS: Part of living a Christ-centered life is showing our gratitude for God’s blessings by serving others. Students at ACS will have many opportunities to serve others locally and globally.
